About Ozark TV Show
"Ozark" returns for season three on March 27th. Here's everything you need to know to get caught up:
What is "Ozark" about?
Netflix's official synopsis reads: "A financial adviser drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder $500 million in five years to appease a drug boss."
What happened in "Ozark" Season 2?
"Ozark" continued to follow Marty Bryde and his family as they became increasingly entangled with organized crime in season two. The season two finale was particularly tense and grim. It saw the successful launch of Marty's biggest undertaking yet: a casino boat that will launder millions of dollars on behalf of the Mexican drug cartel. We can expect to see a lot of episodes take place on that boat in season three.
What will happen in "Ozark" Season 3?
It's pretty clear that the Byrds will have to go further into organized crime before they can find their way out. At the 2019 Emmy's, Jason Bateman, executive producer, star, and occasional director, teased, "The casino is up and running and that provides us with more opportunities both positive and negative, some that are tempting and some that are calming. That affects the family in interesting ways, and certainly the relationship that Marty has with Wendy."
The official synopsis for season three reads, "It's six months later, the casino is up and running, but Marty and Wendy are fighting for control of the family's destiny. Marty preaches keeping the status quo. Aided by an alliance with Helen and drug cartel leader Omar Navarro, Wendy plots for expansion. But when Wendy's brother Ben comes into town, everyone's lives are thrown into chaos."
One thing is clear: we'll be seeing a lot more of Ruth in season three. Writer Chris Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter that Ruth will get closer to the Byrdes and take on more responsibility in season three. "However, as she gets deeper and deeper into the enterprise, she starts to wonder if being a Byrde is the best thing to be," Mundy added.
Who is starring in "Ozark" Season 3?
Series regulars include Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney). Charlotte and Jonah, the couple's children, are played by Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner. Julia Garner will return to reprise her role as Ruth Langmore. Helen Pierce, a season two addition, is played by Janet McTeer. The cast also includes Rachel Garrison (Jordana Spiro), Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery), Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan).
Season three additions to the cast will include Jessica Frances Dukes as FBI agent and forensic accountant Maya Miller. We'll also get acquainted with Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey), Wendy's younger brother.
