New Amsterdam is coming back to NBC and the Season 3 premiere date for the medical drama has been released! The medical drama series will return to the original time slot it's had at 10 p.m. and debuting on Tuesday March 2.

Last season New Amsterdam was moved to the 9 p.m. time slot that was left open by This Is Us at the end of March. It remained at that time slot until the end of the second season. Fans have been patiently waiting for Season 3 and wondering when the premiere date would be. Production for Season 3 of New Amsterdam had been delayed due to Covid-19 related shut downs. Along with that, there were additional delays because there needed to be new sets built in order to shoot the show.

New Amsterdam is a medical drama that has been a high performer with strong ratings with the past seasons. The show averages around 13.8 million in total measurement of the audience and has reached 45 million viewers over the first two seasons it has been aired.

New Amsterdam is inspired by the memoir Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital which was written by Dr. Eric Manheimer… he also has had 15 years as a medical director at a hospital.

This new season will be packed with a lot of surprises that you are sure to enjoy. Max and his team will face the intimidating task of supporting that hopefulness while dealing with a pandemic that exposed the gaping injustices in the health care system. You will see that Max is no longer happy to fix a broken system. Instead, he is resolute to tear the system down and build a new one that is something better.

This means Max is going to be the Max that you would expect when the drama returns. According to the executive producer David Schulner "Everything has changed… eventually they will find their way back to their previous lives, their previous stories."

Like a lot of shows that will have their season premieres, New Amsterdam will have episodes that hit on the pandemic. Within these episodes we will see how the pandemic has affected the lives of the characters, just as it did everyone in real life.
